Watch The Best of Shark Tank Australia Season One
For years, I’ve been championing Australian entrepreneurs. I’ve lived the journey myself — taking a simple idea, a flicker of passion for making experiences accessible, and nurturing it from my front room into the business you know as RedBalloon. It’s a path of incredible highs and character-testing lows. It takes grit, resilience, and an almost-crazy belief in what you’re doing.
That’s why I am absolutely thrilled to my core that Shark Tank has finally come to Australia.
This isn't just another television show. For me, it’s a celebration of the Australian spirit of innovation. It’s about putting the dreamers, the creators, and the hard grafters on the national stage and giving them the opportunity of a lifetime.
When those entrepreneurs walk down that long hallway and the doors open, they’re not just entering a TV studio. They are stepping into the hot seat, facing five people who have been on the same journey they’re on. With my fellow sharks—Janine Allis, Steve Baxter, Andrew Banks, and John McGrath—we bring a collective century of business experience to the tank. We’ve built brands, we’ve scaled companies, and yes, we’ve all made mistakes and learned from them.
And now, we’re looking to invest our own money, time, and expertise into the next great Australian success story.
So, what am I looking for from my seat in the tank?
A great idea is fantastic, but it’s only ever the starting point. I’m looking for the person. I want to see that fire in their eyes. I want to know that they live and breathe their business, that they know their numbers inside and out, and that they have the tenacity to see it through when the going gets tough.
Because it will get tough.
Business is not for the faint of heart. It requires you to be vulnerable, to listen to feedback (even when it’s hard to hear), and to have a vision that is bigger than any single setback. In the Tank, we will ask the tough questions. We will poke holes in business plans. We will challenge assumptions. We do this not to be cruel, but because our investment is more than just a cheque. It’s a partnership. And for a partnership to work, it must be built on a foundation of honesty and reality.
To everyone watching from their living rooms, with a dream tucked away in a notebook or a prototype sitting in the garage, I hope this show ignites something in you. Watch what these brave entrepreneurs do. Learn from their pitches, their passion, and their perseverance.
An idea is worthless without execution. Now, Australia gets to see what it truly takes.
The tank is open. Let’s get down to business.
